Donots

After starting as a cover band, the Donots write their own material since 1994.This is a punk band from Germany, formed in Ibbenbüren. Of the first members of the band are left the brothers Ingo (vocals), Guido (guitars) and Jan-Dirk (bass). In the 1995/96 they got new members Alex (guitars) and Eike (drums),and that has not changed till today.
The name of the band came accidentaly: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name.

The first major album "Better days not included” was released 1996, and after winning a Newcomer Contest, follow concert tours together with Samiam, Downset, Suicidal Tendencies…and similiar bands. The Donots has produced most of their music with Fabio Trentini, bass player of German band H-Blockx.
"Up Song", featured on the album "Amplify The Good Times", features guest vocals by the American pop punk rock band Midtown.
Special guests on the album "Got The Noise": Jason Perry of the UK band A sings on "Alright Now" and the UK rock band 3 Colours Red sing and play on "Knowledge".
The latest album "Got The Noise" landed on 3rd place of the international charts in Japan. They are very famous in Japan. The song "We Got The Noise" was the theme song on the popular video game "MVP Baseball 2005".

Lead singer Ingo has produced the last Waterdown album entitled "All Riot". The band is leaving their record label GUN Records with a last release on that label: it will be released on November 24th and it entitled "The Story So Far - Ibbtown Chronicles". It is a double CD, one with the hit singles, one with the b-sides.
